the paper consists of three parts:

1.English(50 ques,50 marks)
2.Quantitative aptitude(50 ques,50 marks)
3.Logical Reasoning(50 ques,50 marks)
total time:90 min.
The paper was totally on the pattern of Bank PO exam. There were no ques of shakuntala devi or george summers...

There was 3 sections-
English usage,
Logical Reasoning and
arithmetic n data interpretation

There were in total 150 q's, having 50 q's from each sections. All Q's were easy.

Time limit : 90 mins

Before going to venue, just read out the instructions given on the site, coz there was lot of confusions. I did keep with me the specimen answer sheet.

Section 1: English usage

In this there was a paragrap, nearly 400 words, about regularization of banking acts. On basis of this para there was q's . These are as follows-

--> 10 direct q's relataed to para

--> 3 Synoyms(Contemporay, Resilence etc.)

--> 3 Antonyms

--> 9 q's were based on fill in d blanks which was nothing bt, about Development and Education in Punjab and U.P.

on an average all d synonyms n antonyms were very easy and day to day conversational use. These synonyms and antonyms were given in bold in d para.

While solving this type of para plz keep in mind that one time reading with better comprehension is nt only helpful, bt u have to use regression. Remaining 25 q's were based on finding out grammatical error(u can see in any cat/ mat preparartion book). some were diifficult.

In this section i did only 23 q's.

Section 2 : Reasoning

--> 1 caselet based sitting arrangement(5-6 q's)

--> 5 q's based on Blood Relation(if A+B stands for A is father of B , A-B stands for Ais bro of B......... then what is A-B*c so on )

--> 5 q's based on critical resoning(like all banana's are mango, some mangoes are chilli then conclude...)

--> 4-5 q's based on series. In this you have to find out odd one in he series.

--> Some on coding decoding

--> Some were slightly different. These were like -- 5 different nos were given and said that 1 is added to the first digit of all numbers and 1 is subtracted from the middle digit. then Find out the second largest n so on.

--> Some were Data Sufficiency

Suggestion: For seies go through Mitra's Book Quicker maths.

Section 3 : Arithmetic

In this topic on which Q's were based, is as -

1. Probab -- 5 q's, in this q like--- there are different balls in a bag as3-green, 5-blue, 7-red. 6-black then find out the probab of getting 2 red balls, gtting at least 1 gren ball while picking up 3 balls n so on.

2. Series Comletion- 5 q

3. Simplification-10-12 q, as (1) if 12.48 / ? / 56.4 = 12.3 then find ? and so on

4. Compound Interest -1q (Direct Formula)

5. Trains speed-1q as, A train crosses a platform of length double of its length, in 30 sec. Find speed of train.(Ans- can not determined)

6. Data Interpretation- 15 q, 2tables and 1 pie chart, vey easy just calculation basis.

Do as much as possible Bank po sets, there is nothing bt all depends on UR CALCULATION SPEED.

Technical questions

1. How are devices represented in UNIX?

All devices are represented by files called special files that are located in/dev directory. Thus, device files and other files are named and accessed in the same way. A 'regular file' is just an ordinary data file in the disk. A 'block special file' represents a device with characteristics similar to a disk (data transfer in terms of blocks). A 'character special file' represents a device with characteristics similar to a keyboard (data transfer is by stream of bits in sequential order).

2. What is 'inode'?

All UNIX files have its description stored in a structure called 'inode'. The inode contains info about the file-size, its location, time of last access, time of last modification, permission and so on. Directories are also represented as files and have an associated inode. In addition to descriptions about the file, the inode contains pointers to the data blocks of the file. If the file is large, inode has indirect pointer to a block of pointers to additional data blocks (this further aggregates for larger files). A block is typically 8k.

Inode consists of the following fields:

Ø File owner identifier

Ø File type

Ø File access permissions

Ø File access times

Ø Number of links

Ø File size

Ø Location of the file data

3. Brief about the directory representation in UNIX

A Unix directory is a file containing a correspondence between filenames and inodes. A directory is a special file that the kernel maintains. Only kernel modifies directories, but processes can read directories. The contents of a directory are a list of filename and inode number pairs. When new directories are created, kernel makes two entries named '.' (refers to the directory itself) and '..' (refers to parent directory).

System call for creating directory is mkdir (pathname, mode).

4. What are the Unix system calls for I/O?

Ø open(pathname,flag,mode) - open file

Ø creat(pathname,mode) - create file

Ø close(filedes) - close an open file

Ø read(filedes, buffer, bytes) - read data from an open file

Ø write(filedes, buffer, bytes) - write data to an open file

Ø lseek(filedes,offset,from) - position an open file

Ø dup(filedes) - duplicate an existing file descriptor

Ø dup2(oldfd,newfd) - duplicate to a desired file descriptor

Ø fcntl(filedes, cmd, arg) - change properties of an open file

Ø ioctl(filedes, request, arg) - change the behaviour of an open file

The difference between fcntl anf ioctl is that the former is intended for any open file, while the latter is for device-specific operations.

5. How do you change File Access Permissions?

Every file has following attributes:

Ø owner's user ID ( 16 bit integer )

Ø owner's group ID ( 16 bit integer )

Ø File access mode word

'r w x -r w x- r w x'

(user permission-group permission-others permission)

r-read, w-write, x-execute

To change the access mode, we use chmod(filename, mode).

Example 1:

To change mode of myfile to 'rw-rw-r--' (ie. read, write permission for user - read, write permission for group - only read permission for others) we give the args as:

chmod(myfile,0664) .

Each operation is represented by discrete values

'r' is 4

'w' is 2

'x' is 1

Therefore, for 'rw' the value is 6(4+2).

Example 2:

To change mode of myfile to 'rwxr--r--' we give the args as:

6. What are links and symbolic links in UNIX file system?

A link is a second name (not a file) for a file. Links can be used to assign more than one name to a file, but cannot be used to assign a directory more than one name or link filenames on different computers.

Symbolic link 'is' a file that only contains the name of another file.Operation on the symbolic link is directed to the file pointed by the it.Both the limitations of links are eliminated in symbolic links.

Commands for linking files are:

Link ln filename1 filename2

Symbolic link ln -s filename1 filename2

7. What is a FIFO?

FIFO are otherwise called as 'named pipes'. FIFO (first-in-first-out) is a special file which is said to be data transient. Once data is read from named pipe, it cannot be read again. Also, data can be read only in the order written. It is used in interprocess communication where a process writes to one end of the pipe (producer) and the other reads from the other end (consumer).

8. How do you create special files like named pipes and device files?

The system call mknod creates special files in the following sequence.

1. kernel assigns new inode,

2. sets the file type to indicate that the file is a pipe, directory or special file,

3. If it is a device file, it makes the other entries like major, minor device numbers.

For example:

If the device is a disk, major device number refers to the disk controller and minor device number is the disk.

9. Discuss the mount and unmount system calls

The privileged mount system call is used to attach a file system to a directory of another file system; the unmount system call detaches a file system. When you mount another file system on to your directory, you are essentially splicing one directory tree onto a branch in another directory tree. The first argument to mount call is the mount point, that is , a directory in the current file naming system. The second argument is the file system to mount to that point. When you insert a cdrom to your unix system's drive, the file system in the cdrom automatically mounts to /dev/cdrom in your system.

10. How does the inode map to data block of a file?

Inode has 13 block addresses. The first 10 are direct block addresses of the first 10 data blocks in the file. The 11th address points to a one-level index block. The 12th address points to a two-level (double in-direction) index block. The 13th address points to a three-level(triple in-direction)index block. This provides a very large maximum file size with efficient access to large files, but also small files are accessed directly in one disk read.

1. Dress appropriately for the industry; err on the side of being conservative to show you take the interview seriously. Your personal grooming and cleanliness should be impeccable.

2. Know the exact time and location of your interview; know how long it takes to get there, park, find a rest room to freshen up, etc.

3. Arrive early; 10 minutes prior to the interview start time.

4. Treat other people you encounter with courtesy and respect. Their opinions of you might be solicited during hiring decisions.

5. Offer a firm handshake, make eye contact, and have a friendly expression when you are greeted by your interviewer.

6. Listen to be sure you understand your interviewer's name and the correct pronunciation.

7. Even when your interviewer gives you a first and last name, address your interviewer by title (Ms., Mr., Dr.) and last name, until invited to do otherwise.

8. Maintain good eye contact during the interview.

9. Sit still in your seat; avoid fidgeting and slouching.

10. Respond to questions and back up your statements about yourself with specific examples whenever possible.

11. Ask for clarification if you don't understand a question.

12. Be thorough in your responses, while being concise in your wording.

13. Be honest and be yourself. Dishonesty gets discovered and is grounds for withdrawing job offers and for firing. You want a good match between yourself and your employer. If you get hired by acting like someone other than yourself, you and your employer will both be unhappy.

14. Treat the interview seriously and as though you are truly interested in the employer and the opportunity presented.

15. Exhibit a positive attitude. The interviewer is evaluating you as a potential co-worker. Behave like someone you would want to work with.

16. Have intelligent questions prepared to ask the interviewer. Having done your research about the employer in advance, ask questions which you did not find answered in your research.

17. When the interviewer concludes the interview, offer a firm handshake and make eye contact. Depart gracefully.

Interview DON'Ts

1 Don't make excuses. Take responsibility for your decisions and your actions.

2 Don't make negative comments about previous employers or professors (or others).

3 Don't falsify application materials or answers to interview questions.

4 Don't treat the interview casually, as if you are just shopping around or doing the interview for practice. This is an insult to the interviewer and to the organization.

5 Don't give the impression that you are only interested in an organization because of its geographic location.

6 Don't give the impression you are only interested in salary; don't ask about salary and benefits issues until the subject is brought up by your interviewer.

7 Don't act as though you would take any job or are desperate for employment.

8 Don't make the interviewer guess what type of work you are interested in; it is not the interviewer's job to act as a career advisor to you.

9 Don't be unprepared for typical interview questions. You may not be asked all of them in every interview, but being unprepared looks foolish.

10 A job search can be hard work and involve frustrations; don't exhibit frustrations or a negative attitude in an interview.

11 Don't go to extremes with your posture; don't slouch, and don't sit rigidly on the edge of your chair.

12 Don't assume that a female interviewer is "Mrs." or "Miss." Address her as "Ms." unless told otherwise. Her marital status is irrelevant to the purpose of the interview.

13 Don't chew gum or smell like smoke.

14 Don't allow your cell phone to sound during the interview. (If it does, apologize quickly and ignore it.) Don't take a cell phone call.

15 Don't take your parents, your pet (an assistance animal is not a pet in this circumstance), spouse, fiance, friends or enemies to an interview. If you are not grown up and independent enough to attend an interview alone, you're insufficiently grown up and independent for a job. (They can certainly visit your new city, at their own expense, but cannot attend your interview.)

1.Verbal(25Q 25min)

my advice is not to do the reading passage the correct incorrect sentence. then come to passage.u will have no time to read the passage.

2.Analytical(25Q 30min)
venn diagram(5) its simple u can do it .FIRST DO VENN DIAGRAM decimal to binary conversion(5).the ques will be like this.0 replaced with * and 1 replaced with $.PLS DONT GET CONFUSED BY READING REST OF THE QUES.just do DEC TO BIN CONVERSION and replace by symbols.thats all.
eg: avg(70,170,270).just do the average and then convert to binary
similarly lcm(20,40,80) just do lcm and convert to binary data sufficiency (5Q) pls refer RS aggarval

3.Non verbal
odd figure(5),next figure(5),Logical deduction(5),puzzle.
for logical deduction pls refer rs agarval its the nine rules given for syllogisms.odd fig and next fig out is very easy.
